FAQ

Q. Why do I need a Doula?

Your birth experience is something that will always be with you. More and more pregnant people are choosing doulas to help empower them through the birth of their children. There have been numerous studies done that show labours done with a doula on the team are shorter, less stressful, less painful, and come with fewer interventions.

The transition to parenthood is much easier when you take control of your birth experience and enter this new chapter with confidence. Your body was made for this, I can give you the support to realize how strong and amazing you are.

Q. Are Doulas Expensive?

It can seem that way, but having access to your own on-call support coach and advocate nearing the end of your pregnancy can help assuage the normal fears as birth grows closer. I am here for YOU, ready to give you my complete support and attention in whatever capacity you need. I will work alongside your partners, doctors, nurses and caregivers to help you have the most amazing birth experience that you deserve.

That being said, I would rather people know that they have support, regardless of financial circumstances. Contact me for a sliding scale or payment plans. I do not want you to feel you can't afford it or deserve it. You do! Let's come together and make it work as a team!

Q. Does My Insurance Cover This?

In many cases, yes! I myself have a NPPES number that is a code that can be submitted to most insurances, including Medicaid! I will help you contact your insurance provider to make sure you qualify.

Q. What About My Husband/Wife/Partner? What happens to their role?

They have an extremely important role to play...the partner! I will never step in front of, speak for, or displace your partner in this process. But often, the non-birth partner is at a loss for the best ways to help. I can help to gently encourage them to be in the best position for the optimal experience that is the birth of your child. I can also step into the role of advocate to make sure your needs and wants are best expressed to the medical support team while your partner focuses on you.

Q. Are you a Midwife?

No, I am not. I do not perform anything that is considered a medical test, including cervical checks, ultrasounds, or fetal heart monitoring. My role is strictly supportive and I will never profess to medical knowledge, or interfere with your actual midwife or medical staff.

Q. What Kind of Credentials do you have?

I have completed the certification for doula, as well as an advanced course in still birth and bereavement. This allows me to better serve my clientele who may be in need of me.
